St. John's Website Help

The St. John's Web Team has put a lot of effort into making this site as user-friendly as possible, but with so many types of computers and browsers, things may not always appear as we would like them to. Below are a few helpful hints, and also a link to let us know if you are having issues with the site.

Text Too Large or Too Small to Read Well: We've done our best to make the text on this site scaleable both up and down, so that you, the reader, can decide what works best for you. If you feel the text is too large or small, use your browser's "change text size" feature. In Internet Explorer and FireFox it can be found at View==>Text Size on the browser's main menu bar; for other browsers, there is more than likely a similar setting.

Trouble With Dropdown Menus: If you are having issues with the dropdown menus used for navigation (perhaps you can't quite get your mouse to the dropdown area, or you don't see it at all), never fear! You can just click on the main navigation button, and it will take you to the default page for that section. From there, you can use the menus on the left-hand side of the page to navigate that section (they cover all that you would find in the dropdown menus, and more).

Trouble With Parish Weekly, Newsletter, or Sermons Pages: In testing the site, occasionally we found that the tables that contain the lists of the above-noted documents didn't appear the very first time a browser visited the page. To correct this, right-click about an inch below the text for the page, centered underneath it, and hit Refresh (Internet Explorer) or Reload (Firefox, Opera, and probably other browsers). That should cause it to appear.

Trouble With PDF Files: If you are having issues seeing the Sermons, Parish Weekly, or the Glad Tidings Newsletters, it may be because you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If this is the case, go to Adobe's web site to download a version.

Trouble With Calendar: If you are having issues with the Calendar (most likely, having trouble seeing the "popup" that should appear when you click on an item in the Calendar), if you scroll around the calendar a bit, you should see it; if you do not, please use the link below to report the issue to us.

Getting "Lost" When Navigating: As with any web site, as you drill further and further down into the site, sometimes you might not know where you've ended up. To help you get back to where you came from (if that's where you want to go), you can use the button, to go back through the pages you've already viewed.

Other Issues and Comments: If the above tips haven't proved helpful, or you're having issues with a different part of the site, let us know! Please click on this link to be taken to a form that you can fill out and send to us. Provide as much information as you can about your computer and browser, as this will help us improve our site.

Hope the above has been helpful!
