You are a child of God. You are wonderfully made, dearly loved, and most precious in the sight of the Holy One.
— Adapted from Psalm 139

At St. John’s, children learn, question, play, seek, laugh, and grow together on their spiritual path.

On Sundays

We love having people of every age in our services! Children are welcome to stay with their families during the service, or can join Sunday School. We also have have crayons, coloring sheets, and books near the entrance to the sanctuary.

During Sunday Services September-June:

  • Nursery: Families can drop off babies and toddlers to play during the service.

  • Godly Play: Lower elementary children meet downstairs after the opening hymn and return in time to participate in Holy Communion. Godly Play is a Montessori-based Sunday school curriculum that nurtures belief and faith through storytelling, wondering, and play.

  • Godly Journey: Older children and youth meet in our Parish Office after the opening hymn and return in time to participate in Holy Communion. Godly Journey focuses on hands-on engagement and taking leadership in one’s own faith formation. Some weeks, this cohort of young people help lead the worship service through reading, serving as an acolyte, greeting, leading Prayers of the People, or presenting the gifts for Holy Communion.

“As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has or ever will have something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”
