You are a child of God. You are wonderfully made, dearly loved, and most precious in the sight of the Holy One.
— Adapted from Psalm 139
  • Kids can choose to either stay with their families during the service, or, from September to June, kids of all ages can also join Sunday School for part of the service.

    September-June:

    • Nursery: Families can drop off babies and toddlers to play for all or part of the service.

    • Godly Play: Lower elementary children meet downstairs after the opening hymn and return for Holy Communion. Godly Play is Montessori-based and nurtures belief and faith through storytelling, wondering, and play.

    • Godly Journey: Older children meet in our Parish Office after the opening hymn and return for Holy Communion. The Godly Journey class also helps lead worship through reading, serving as acolytes, greeting, or presenting the gifts for Holy Communion.

    • First Friday Faith Night: We gather monthly for pizza, prayer, games, and a homespun eucharist.

    • Church potlucks: We come together to feed our community, both literally and spiritually!

    • Weekly “Taking Faith Home” flier: resources to deepen our faith at home.

    • Social outings: From bowling to art exhibit visits, we build relationships and joy outside of the church as well.

Children and youth are an integral part of our congregation at St. John’s. Our young people seek, play, learn, question, laugh, and grow together.

“As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has or ever will have something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”
— Mr. Rogers
