In The Community - Step by Step Guyana Fundraiser

  • Wellesley Community Center 219 Washington Street Wellesley, MA 02481 (map)

Co-founded by Jim Ellis, the Step By Step School in Georgetown, Guyana serves children with Autism and is funded solely through donations. Jim, and Kerry Davis, a tenured speech language pathologist with expertise in working with children with Autism, provide pro bono clinical and programmatic support to the Step By Step School. The school has grown from 4 students in 2011 to 19 in 2018. We are at capacity in our current donated space (an apartment above a car dealership) and are working to raise money to build a school to serve up to 50 students.

Come join us for our fifth annual fundraiser. This year, our fundraiser is inspired by Mashramani, Guyana's version of Carnival and also the celebration of Guyana becoming a Republic. In addition to a light dinner, silent auction, and raffle, we will have a variety of Carnival-themed games for all ages. Kids are welcome!!
